The Allegro Ice Dance Club is an incorporated society formed in 2003 to promote the sport and artistry of ice dancing.

Ice dance is one of the divisions of ice figure skating, with the others being solo figure skating, pair skating and synchronised skating. Ice Dance has been included in the World Ice Skating Championships since 1952 and in the Winter Olympics competition since 1976. It was given an exceptionally high profile at the 1984 Winter Olympics, when British ice dancers Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won the gold medal, receiving a complete set of perfect scores -- the highest in any international ice skating competition ever.

The Allegro Ice Dance Club is leading a renaissance in this branch of the sport in New Zealand. We hold dance-only sessions in order to promote the sport and to give skaters the opportunity to practice their dancing skills and to learn new ice dances. We have highly qualified coaches available to teach the dance patterns and other skills required to those who have not previously tried ice dancing. Whether you want to dance socially or competitively, solo or with a partner, this is the club for you!

The Allegro Ice Dance Club is affiliated with the New Zealand Ice Figure Skating Association.
